We started
the business in 1975 in a two-bay Texaco gas station located near the
Thurber Village Apartments, just northwest of
downtown Columbus. Our original business name was Thurber Village
Texaco. We converted to auto service and repairs only, in 1978, when
Texaco pulled out of Ohio. At that time, we changed our name to
Thurber Village Service. We continued to lease the old Texaco
building until the Fall of 1985, when we moved into our brand new shop at
our current location on King Avenue. We changed our name again, this
time to Motorkars, Inc.
The King
Avenue shop consists of 4-service bays with hydraulic lifts, an
equipment/engine build room, parts department, customer waiting room,
front office reception and an employee lounge/locker room with shower
facilities.
We have eight
full time employees on staff including, General Manager, Parts Manager,
Office Manager, Service Manager and four ASE certified technicians (one of whom is also
the Shop Manager). Since 1992 we have been using custom computer
software for all of our invoicing, parts inventory, customer data and
scheduling.
We have made
major equipment purchases in the last few years. Some of the
equipment in our shop includes: a Snap-On Advantage portable diagnostic
electrical tester, a Snap-On Hi-Speed wheel balancer, a Rim Clamp tire
machine (for ultra performance wheels and tires), a 5-Gas analyzer, and a
Sun Snap-On "State Of The Art" portable 4-wheel alignment unit.
