Team Motorkars was faced
with many challenges in 2007. Various issues such as teamwork,
roll cage fabrication, mechanical failures, racing politics and
of course good competition.
We invested over 200 hours in the design and fabrication of a
new roll cage to increase chassis stiffness and provide better
protection for the driver. We also added a new drivers seat with
head protection to meet the increasing safety standards of the
sport of racing. We also added a GPS based data logger enabling
us to establish “virtual” track maps and monitor vehicle
position/reaction on the track. By analyzing this data we could
see how chassis adjustments and driver correction affected our
lap times at every section of the track.
In the middle of the 2007 season Team Motorkars petitioned to
have the class penalty for “All Wheel Drive” removed. After
review with the regional and national directors of the GTS
series the penalty has been lifted for the 2008 season. We will
be eligible to race in the very competitive GTS 2 class by
adding a small amount of weight to the racekar.
Team Motorkars finished the 2007 season 4th
overall in points. We are looking forward to a very fun and
eventful 2008 season. |
