2010 SEASON REVIEW

The Motorkars racing program for 2010 was a roller coaster season that ended with Matt Markowicz winning the GTS2 championship the final weekend of the season at Putnam Park in October. The solid finish was due in part to the various improvements and modifications performed by Team Motorkars to the A4 Turbo Quattro allowing Matt to push the racekar harder than ever on the track. The check list of changes performed were as follows:

1. Installed adjustable coil over suspension with increased rear negative camber and lower ride height (to minimize underbody drag).

2. Modified front splitter (to increase front down force and assist in guiding air around car).

3. Fabricated rear diffuser (to increase rear down force through created a decrease in pressure at rear underbody and allowing atmospheric pressure to push down on rear of car from above).

4. Added induction software update to maintain a consistent level of boost pressure and minimize turbo lag between shifts and periods of throttle lift.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2010  SEASON:

•  The partial rain races at Putnam Park.

• Passing a Dodge Viper which has 3 times the horsepower, on the outside of turn eight (an uphill off-camber turn) in the rain.

• Hearing comments from the other driver's on how fast the Motorkars Audi is in the rain.  The true beauty of Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system is the ability to maintain consistent levels of performance throughout inconsistent weather conditions

• Being part of a family in the truest sense of the word. Definitely more than just driving a car fast around a racetrack.

• Reflecting back on where we started and how far we have come.

• Being congratulated by fellow race drivers and directors on a great season. 

• After finishing in 3rd place for the 2009 season it was very satisfying for Team Motorkars and Matt to end the season on a high note by finishing in 1st place in GTS2 at the end of the 2010 season.

Normally we would be focusing on the upcoming racing season and racekar improvements but we have decided to  go on hiatus for the 2011 racing season.
